Aruncahl Pradesh Is all set to join Nagaland as the second state of India having no opposition. Although the polling will take place on  April 19 to elect a new assembly of 60 members, 10 MLAs were elected unopposed.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures 10 uncontested victories in Arunachal Pradesh’s Assembly elections, highlighting the party’s stronghold in the region. This achievement is attributed to the “unprecedented progress” witnessed under its governance since 2014.

However, the Opposition Congress holds the record for the highest number of uncontested wins, with 11 victories in the 2014 Assembly polls. Among the BJP’s uncontested winners are Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

The BJP attributes this success to the transformative changes brought about by its leadership both at the state and central levels.

Despite facing significant defections, Congress leaders stress that uncontested victories do not necessarily indicate one-sided dominance and emphasize the potential influence of national politics on state dynamics. As Arunachal Pradesh braces for simultaneous Assembly and parliamentary polls on April 19, political tensions and electoral intricacies continue to shape the landscape of the region.
